My student, @AndrewNilesMusic and I wanted to do a collaboration together.
I have always feared covering a Nightwish song because their fan base is very picky about their singers and the music they put out. I did a single live react on a Nightwish song on YouTube and it was met with angry fans left and right because I skipped through the instrumental interludes to listen to the vocalist by herself. Clearly, they have preferences, and I was ignorant of them. Sorry, Nightwish fans...I promise I didn't mean to upset you.
So covering a Nightwish song was something I was very weary of.
Until my student, Andrew, suggested the song, Bye Bye Beautiful.
The song would consist of two verses sung by me and the rest performed by my collab partner, and so it felt a little easier to step into the temporary role of a "Metal Band's front woman" when the main singer was the counterpart.
