Found this clip of Black Friday shopping from 2010 and it is such a specific kind of time capsule.
That year was actually one of the biggest in gaming history for a Black Friday sale. Microsoft had just launched Kinect on November 4, 2010, only about three weeks before this footage, and stores were leaning hard into that hype heading into the holidays. The Xbox 360 had also just gotten a redesign that summer, the slimmer glossy black S model with built-in Wi-Fi, which is very likely the console getting rung up at that Best Buy counter.
Best Buy that year was opening its doors at 5 in the morning and handing out tickets two hours early just to manage the crowds fighting over limited doorbuster stock, which tells you everything about how serious people were about getting their hands on a console that day. Sony had its own Move motion controller out too, so this was peak console war season, with every store pushing hard for your holiday budget.
