Building an average gaming PC according to the Steam Hardware Survey for February 2025, and using it to play some classic modern games, as well as remasters, independently developed games, and free-to-play games.

The vibe in the PC industry is largely negative right now. New components are disappointing, or have crippling flaws, or both. Games continue to be developed with high system requirements, and often suffer from stutters that prevent smooth gameplay - and to top it all, everything is more expensive than it should be. And it sucks.
In this video, I've built the Steam Hardware Survey's idea of the average gaming PC, and used it to play a bunch of games that can be had cheaply or for free - and which (mostly) don't suffer the performance problems we see in 2025.
