When someone asks you how you are doing, do you ever answer “crazy busy”? Or worse “busy, busy, busy”? If you’re really that busy, you don’t have time to say it three times. In our society, being busy or seeming to be busy has erroneously become a measure of success. Somehow or other, people think that the busier you are, the more successful you must be. But this is a monumental misunderstanding. In fact, being busy is the opposite of being successful. Being busy means that you don’t have things under control. It means that you don’t have your priorities straight. If someone asks you how you’re going, and you answer with “busy”, it implies that you’re unorganised, you have no focus, no strategy, no planning. I’m sorry, but you’re a mess. If you’re busy, it means you have no oversight. However, if you have a mission, you have a purpose, you’re focused, you know exactly what to do and you have everything planned, your calendar could be chock-full of deep work sessions, skill-building exercises, and other effective appointments, but you’re not busy, you’re on schedule, you’re on purpose, you’re switched on, you’re organised, you have overview, you can be relaxed, you can be present, you’re pleasant to be around, you’re inspiring, you leave people with good energy. That’s the type of attitude we should adopt. Especially when we’re still studying, or when we’re at the start of our career, if we consciously consider our mission, our purpose now, we avoid running around like headless chicken, overwhelmed with stress, and instead we know exactly what to do to reach our destination and we can deal with the stresses that come along accordingly.

![Army Combat Veteran: Why Your Team Doesnt Actually Follow You & What Great Leaders Do Instead
David Neal spent 14 years leading soldiers into situations where bad leadership got people killed. Now he reveals why everything most business owners believe about authority, influence, and team performance is completely wrong.
David Neil is a former Australian Army Infantry Officer, and is now an executive coach, and CEO of The Eighth Mile Consulting. With 14 years in uniform, leading combat teams through high-pressure environments where clarity was mandatory and accountability was immediate, David now works with organisations that want substance over slogans. He helps leaders close the gap between what they say they value and how they actually behave. Recognised in Forbes, LinkedIn Top 20 Voices Australia, and Leaders Hum Top 200 Global Leaders, David brings the hard lessons of military leadership into the realities of building and running a business team.
He explains:
◼️ Why soldiers dont run at bullets for their country and what actually drives them
◼️ Why authority is a leadership failsafe, not a strategy and what happens when you lean on it
◼️ The wolf, the sheep, and the third type of leader almost nobody develops
◼️ Why the moment you pull rank, youre cashing in chips you can never get back
◼️ The real difference between leadership and management and why both matter
◼️ Why your team isnt resisting change openly and what theyre doing instead
◼️ Why motivation and discipline are not the same thing and operate on different brain chemicals
◼️ What Viktor Frankls observations in a Nazi prison camp reveal about hope, performance, and survival
◼️ Why a sheepdog with no teeth isnt a leader. Its just the next thing to get eaten
◼️ How to build a team that performs without you having to be in the room
