Finding and tapping a maple tree to collect the sap can be difficult without leaves to help you identify the tree. I am 99% sure I have tapped a sugar maple tree. In the video, I demonstrate a careful approach to finding out for sure.

If you plan to collect and consume any wild edible make sure you know what you are collecting. Mistakes can be fatal. If you are not sure about what you have collected, consume small amounts back home in the civilized world where you can get help if needed.
