The Brighton Provincial Wildlife Area offers visitors forests, grasslands, streams, a 5-acre pond and a variety of wildlife viewing opportunities. This 392-hectare section of Crown Land is managed by the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) to ensure the sustainability of all levels of the ecosystem within it and to raise public awareness of our natural resources, their biodiversity, and their sustainable use. This area offers several kilometres of multi-use trails with permitted uses that include hiking, off-road cycling, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The MNR prohibited Motorised Vehicles from using the trails in 2008 due to increased environmental degradation. We visit in 2014 to discover how well this area has recovered from the off-road vehicle ban.
