In Burundi, WFP is supporting integrated approaches that link nutrition, livelihoods and resilience.

This video tells the story of mothers who are learning to prevent malnutrition, improve child feeding practices, generate income, save together, invest in small livestock and cultivate land collectively to strengthen their households.

Between January and May 2026, 4,397 children under five with severe acute malnutrition were admitted for treatment in targeted provinces, with a reported cure rate of 93.1 percent.

By combining nutrition knowledge, treatment, savings, income generation and collective action, mothers are not only protecting their children’s health today — they are helping build stronger households and more resilient communities for tomorrow.
