How can you design spaces for generations to come?

To celebrate our fiftieth anniversary, colleagues across the practice are sharing their experiences of working at Buro Happold. Next in our series is Building Environments Engineer Shaden Alshwaeir, who joined five years ago in the Riyadh office and has since worked in the cities of Bath and London through our global mobility initiative.

Among Shaden's proudest projects is the Diriyah District in Riyadh, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where she helped deliver several public spaces. It's a development that preserves more than 600 years of architecture to honour the past and serve communities today.

Reflecting on Buro Happold's 50 year history, Shaden shares her personal experience of Buro Happold's global presence, helping shape projects around the world. She believes our greatest responsibility is designing for positive impact, not only to meet today's requirements, but to also build a better future.
