The new Fiskars X7 hatchet arrived yesterday. It's awesome. I guess some don't like how looks since it doesn't have that traditional bushcraft design. I don't care about that. It's relatively lightweight and inexpensive. It doesn't take much time to put the sheath back on. Chops, carves, and splits great. The swell at the end of the handle has nice ergonomics. The bright orange will make it easier to find. Choking up and doing quick wrist chopping feels great. I got in the zone and processed almost all the wood in the backyard.
I've been thinking of picking up a fire pit to burn all of the wood. I could use it as fuel too... Maybe build a DIY gasifier stove.
I might try to do more 'camp cooking' with all the backyard wood. I've been thinking of baking a pizza again with the Firebox 8" Cook Kit. The last time I tried baking a pizza with the Firebox Titanium Nano I used wood pellets and charcoal for fuel.
