Live from the House of Commons as Andy Burnham appears for the first time on Tuesday afternoon since becoming Prime Minister six weeks ago.

The PM, who is meeting with his top team for a Cabinet meeting at 9.30am, will will call for more public control over water, energy and transport on the day MPs return from their summer holiday.

Mr Burnham, who faces his first PMQs on Wednesday, will also outline plans to minimise prisons early release as Parliament returns.

The Prime Minister has already said PC Andrew Harper's killers will remain behind bars.

He has said extra prison space would be created by deporting foreign prisoners and releasing some inmates serving indefinite sentences.
