Firefighters issued a stark update after flames ripped through Stourbridge, obliterating homes and rendering several buildings structurally unsafe. Teams remain on the ground this morning, exclusion zones still enforced, with smoke pockets drifting up as crews patrol and drench hotspots across several areas.
A child and three firefighters were taken to hospital, while six members of the public were treated for smoke inhalation; two required further care in hospital.
The inferno erupted near Stourbridge Golf Course shortly before 1.30pm on Thursday, tearing across roughly 40 acres, including woodland, and gutting six homes. Britain’s frontline firefighters continue to hold the line, working through the night to prevent any resurgence.
This devastation lands amid fresh GoFundMe figures showing a sharp rise in appeals from families burned out of their homes across the UK. House-fire fundraisers on the platform more than doubled between July 2024 and July 2026—surging 129%—while a record 71 were launched last month alone, up 51% on July last year.
