In 2022, there are so many 3D engines that exist – we can barely keep a count on it. With multiple experiences comes complex design problems to solve on a daily basis. This is where design systems come in. There's no need to reinvent the wheel when we can all just align on the most expected and common design patterns for users to experience. The BlueJay Design System is the official design system for Open 3D Engine. This talk will outline the what is involved in planning and building the best open source design system for the 3D engine. (And hopefully influence other engines to follow along too!).
Core topics include:
– What is the BlueJay Design System?
– The impacts of a design system (Scale, Consistency, Efficiency and Teamwork)
– How does a design system save me time as a contributor?
– The roadmap ahead
Speaker: Lee Hung Nguyen, Lead UX Designer on the BlueJay Design System, Amazon

![Understanding and Customizing the O3DE Render Pipeline
Hear from Galib Arrieta, an engineer who is one of the original authors of Atom, the render for O3DE. Tune in as Galib walks through his Siggraph 2024 presentation on understanding and customizing the O3DE Render Pipeline.
O3DE, a full-featured, real-time MIT/Apache2 open source 3D engine, can be used to create high-fidelity games, robotic simulations and immersive 3D worlds. This session will focus on explaining how the O3DE Render Pipeline works, how to leverage its data driven nature, and in general how to customize it to suit your needs or artistic preferences.
O3DE is a fairly new Open Source game engine, so this talk hopes to raise awareness of the advantages of the rendering architecture of O3DE, educate 3D graphics practitioners about the importance of a data driven and modular renderer and share best practices on how to make the O3DE renderer your own.
