I'm building craftsman style gable end details to make the DIY pavilion roof look sharp — using 6x6 and 2x8 Cedartone wood from Menards to match the detail on the front of my house.
In this video I walk you through notching the 6x6 uprights, fitting the angled pieces at 45 degrees, sandwiching the structure for rigidity, and adding the decorative lower two by eights that tie it all together. I also added extra 6x6 uprights for more shadow detail and visual depth — and wrapped up by installing the outer collar rafter while waiting on the back-ordered black steel roof.
This build is part of my ongoing DIY Pavilion Smokehouse series. The metal roof is ordered — next up is the install!
