Using a Sega Megadrive (Genesis) controller on a Commodore 64 puts a lot of strain on the CIA chip and can cause it to fail. So how can you use a Sega Megadrive Joypad on a C64?
Join me as we build a simple adapter that will safely convert your Sega joypad's output into voltage levels that the C64's internals can handle without a problem. It also works with Amiga machines and has some great features like button switching and mapping UP to a button.
This project was shared by Screwbreaker, building on work by SukkoPera who in turn used the details found in "Commodore World", Issue 5! You can view and purchase your own board easily here: pcbway.com/project/shareproject/OpenC64MegaDrivePadAdapter.html
Here's a link to buy a very cool Dremel 3000 Multi-tool. Highly recommended! amzn.to/3ltYs0h (MFS Affiliate Link)
