This video is part of an ongoing 3DO FZ 1 hardware build series. This series follows the process of rebuilding and upgrading a classic Panasonic 3DO FZ 1 games console using a mix of original parts, modern hardware, and open source projects.

The foundational hardware and early work for this USB Controller adapter project was developed by FCARE, whose open source USB to 3DO design laid the groundwork for everything that follows:

Building directly on that same hardware, Robert Dale Smith developed new firmware that brings the platform properly to life. His work expands the idea of the original design and enables greater functionality, still on FCARE’s hardware .

This is yet another brilliant RP2040 implementation in the retro gaming space and I'm excited to see what it unlocks for the 3DO going forward. Lightguns?
