*How to build a hutch for a rabbit using a reclaimed wooden barrel: what you need to get started*

You will need the following tools and materials to build your own rabbit hutch:

*Tools:*
• Cordless combi drill
• Screwdriver
• Jigsaw
• Multi-sander
• Fontus 18V

*Materials:*
• Large wooden barrel
• Three plywood panels
• Piano hinge
• Handle
• Wood screws
• Two wooden slats

*How to build a rabbit hutch: A step-by-step guide*

*1. Cut out the bottom of the barrel* – Set the barrel upright and saw out the bottom with a jigsaw.

*2. Clean the barrel* – Before building a rabbit hutch you want to make sure the inside has been thoroughly cleaned. A low-pressure cleaner with a brush is particularly suitable for this job.

*3. Cut the middle wooden panel* – Cut the large wooden board so that it sits snuggly against the inner curve of the barrel.
Tip: In our example we use a pencil and an ordinary folding ruler to trace the curve of the barrel onto the wood, ready to be cut.

*4. Cut an entrance* - Create a T-structure by positioning a second smaller board vertically and marking the curve of the barrel using the same trick as above.
Tip: Your rabbit hutch design is up to you. Make sketches of how you want the den to look before cutting the entrance.

*5. Cut the final board* – Place a third board over one-half of the T-structure and repeat the process of outlining the curve. This will later function as a hatch for easy access to the rabbit hutch.

*6. Assemble the inner structure* – Take the board from step 5 and screw the piano hinge to the short side. Mount the hinge to the smaller board from step 4. Now attach the structure to the large base with screws. Finally, add the cabinet door handle.

*7. Fit the inner structure* – Position the structure in the barrel and attach wooden slats at the base to hold it firmly in place.
