*Important: Always wear safety gear.* When using a jigsaw, it is important that you take appropriate safety measures. Wear ear protection and safety goggles at all times and cut-resistant gloves when changing blades.

*1. Clamp your workpiece* – If working on a loose piece of wood, secure it firmly with screw clamps before cutting.

*2. Make your measurements* – Mark and draw your cutting line with a pencil and straight ruler. Jigsaws are also suitable for cutting curved lines. To mark curves accurately it’s best to use a compass.

*3. Insert the jigsaw blade* – Make sure the jigsaw is unplugged or the battery pack removed before inserting the appropriate blade.

*4. Making the cut* – Position both hands on the top of the jigsaw. Guide with minimal application of pressure. Only switch off when completely through the material.
Tip: If you are concerned about the steadiness or accuracy of your freehand cut, a jigsaw cutting guide track can help you achieve the perfect line.

These are the basic instructions for working with a jigsaw safely. Although commonly used for cutting wood, a quality jigsaw with the correct blades is a versatile piece of equipment, capable of cutting through plastics, metals and other materials. No toolbox is complete without one.
