To start modding, I highly recommend you download Vortex Mod Manager or Mod Organizer 2. I use Vortex, but both work great. There are many great tutorials online about these.

Next, you'll need to create or download StarfieldCustom.ini to make most of your mods work. There's an excellent premade one here with some tweaks that include a higher fov.

A lot of newer mods for Starfield utilize the Plugins.txt method of enabling mods. In order to utilize these mods, you'll need to download the Starfield Script Extender. I would recommend looking up a tutorial for this, since you'll have to launch the game from the Script Extender exe file from now on.
