Jousting Pistol Squats... this one is TOUGH. It challenges a lot of different things at the same time... legs, ankles, balance, core, shoulders...
I'm using a regular 45 lb Olympic bar for these...no wild setups here!

IMPORTANT - after testing both sides, I found that holding the bar on the same side as the working leg was the best way to go for balance, i.e. if you're squatting down on your left leg, hold the bar on your left side.
This helps to counterbalance the weight of your leg as you bring it out in front of you on the way down.
