atkelar | Build #2 - Time Circuits Prop @atkelar | Uploaded September 2019 | Updated October 2024, 53 minutes ago.
The theme for Eurofurence 25 was "Fractures in Time" - i.e. pretty much anything revolving around time travel or related topics in SciFi and Fantasy.
For me, it was clear from the start that I wanted to have a "Time Circuit Display" as a prop on the set of the photoshoot, which I organized.
For that purpose, having a 100% authentic replica is not really an option, since the studio flashlight will drown out pretty much any LED (except for high-power ones, but hey, that wouldn't be accurate either)
Extending an idea that I had a few years ago, when I made a "fake torch", I decided to put a cheap flash that can trigger from the main flash would be the way to go. Here's how planning and construction worked out. Mind you, some things I'd have done slightly different, had time not been very limited...
If you like my little videos, please consider dropping a few bucks into my coffee bin: ko-fi.com/atkelar - I am not doing this for a living, but it would be nice to offset the cost of the materials a bit. Also, I'm looking to finance a second camera for the hands-on shots, so I'd have two angles to intercut. I would hate to put my main camera into the workshop hazard.
