Melissa works as the state extension entomologist for Colorado State University Extension, focusing in the Tri-River Area of Colorado, focusing on Mesa, Delta, Montrose, and Ouray counties. Her Extension and research program helps to solve agricultural, horticultural, urban, public health, and natural resource issues relating to pest management and entomology in western Colorado. Melissa obtained advanced skills in insect/arthropod identification and plant damage diagnostics that she applies widely to help western Colorado and beyond. Melissa’s Extension entomology program manages several diverse programs that support community members, Colorado Master Gardeners, producers, Extension agents, and pest management professionals by providing insect/plant damage diagnostics and insect education. Her research program focuses heavily on insect monitoring and identification in stone fruit orchards, grape vineyards, sweet corn fields, and urban sectors of the Tri-River Area.
