I recently wrote a song for the "Multi" marketing campaign, perfectly managed and led by the 'King of Hearts' advertising agency. The investor group 'Whitewood' has bought, stripped and is refurbishing the former 'Philips' building at the famous 'Place de Brouckère' in the heart of Brussels into a cosmopolitan multifunctional hotspot to accomodate future entrepreneurs and residents. I was asked to write a French song, musing about what this new commercial and residential area might mean to the neighbourhood and its inhabitants, trying to lean into the vivacious and eloquent rethoric style of the late great Brussels citizen Jacques Brel: a humbling task but a fun challenge. Given his broad experience as a much appreciated performer of 'Chanson Française', my friend Mathieu Engels was asked to perform the song. I had been waiting for such an opportunity to work with Damien Smets's new studio "Nice recordings" in Antwerp, who oversaw the recording process and produced the final mix of the song. (producer Jussi Denys) All did an outstanding job. It was a fun experience, made extra special by the challenging circumstances of the covid-19 pandemic.
This video is a peek behind the scenes, into the recording process. The actual campaign-video has been published and can be viewed on this link:
