The Zenza Bronica S2A is supposed to be a better buy than the S2, because the S2A was an upgrade on the S2, with a more robust and heard wearing gearing system under the hood. But externally the S2 and the S2A are almost identical. So how do you tell the difference.
I started researching and I found out that the camera that I thought was an S2 is actually an S2A... and the camera I paid a little more for that I thought was an S2A, is actually an S2!! At least one of them is an S2A!
Here I run through the ways to tell them apart. Number one is the serial number - most S2A's will have "S2A" on the end of the serial number. But some don't! If your S2A was made after 1973 then it won't have that in the serial number. From about SN 150000 onwards the S2A was dropped from the serial number. But there are still ways to tell if you're looking at an S2A. Check out the video to find out what those ways are!
