Last completion of the year, and a very difficult one. I've tried going for this several times over the last few years, and got decimated by it each time. I really wanted to beat a short level that was actually hard again though, and even if I disliked the level, it seemed to be one of the more doable options for me. It's very unfortunate that this turned out to be as difficult and chokepointy as it is, as it had a lot of potential to be fun if it were significantly easier. I really don't hate anything about the base gameplay- nothing stands out as boring, the predrop is perfectly short, and much of the drop parts are pretty satisfying to pull off. In a perfect world, anyway, I could've enjoyed all of that. The level still had its moments for me whenever I would warm up to it, but trying to beat it really sucks. So much of the fun that could've been had with this was ruined by it being one of the most unbalanced levels I've ever played. It's certainly at its worst earlier on, with how horrific the process is to even reach the 30s, but every part after that remains full of chokepoints. No part ever got fully consistent to me as there were always a few frequent spots that gave me a rough time. But yeah, earlier parts first. Even though I lucked out from 0% and didn't have to play the predrop much, I still despised it. Every other attempt involved dying to one of the blue orbs in the first few seconds of the level, or the 8% ship which is even worse. The first drop part is probably the best part of the level, but it was incredibly difficult for me. Certainly, being weak at wave gameplay plays a part in that, but still, I thought it was by far the hardest part of the level. The ship following it has probably the single worst chokepoint in the level with the 28% gap, but then after the following yellow orbs, the level starts to get a lot easier. The chokepoints keep on coming, though. 45-47%, 54%, 62%, 69%, 77-78%, 85%, and most of the last part just never stopped giving me trouble. There is other stuff in between, but I think I've emphasized it enough. This level's balancing is so poor that I would never think of recommending it to anybody, which is a shame because it could've easily been better. It is really nice though to finally have beaten something with gameplay as hard as this is, and really it's been so overdue. The fact all of my hardest completions are primarily endurance focused and not as much on raw skill has been something that's bothered me to an extent, so this is a step in the right direction for that, at least.
