Onboard a British Airways Airbus A321NEO for a flight down from Heathrow to Barcelona on a rather wet, January morning in London.
The flight left Heathrow nearly 2 hours late due to the aircraft arriving late from the hangars at Heathrow. It hadn't even come from anywhere... It just hadn't been tugged to T5 in time. Then needed security checking & catered before we could board. It was also parked on a bus stand opposite terminal 5. Which is good for me, allowed me to get some outside shots of the aircraft during boarding. Now this flight was supposed to be an A320 and I had booked myself seat 17F. A window seat just behind the wing. Instead it swapped at fairly short notice to this A321, thus leaving me with a window seat right over the wing. However once onboard I was fortunate enough to spot an empty row and asked the crew if I could move and they let me. So a nice move to 8A for a lovely engine view of the NEO!
Once onboard, pushed back and began taxiing on a single engine. During the taxi we started engine No.2 and made our way to 27R. A short wait before taking off into the grey skies. Listen to the CFMI LEAP engines roar as we seem to increase power during the cloud through the clouds. Once in the cruise the cloud cover seemed to stick around over much of France and cleared just before descent over the Pyrenees. Some spectacular views of the snow capped mountains. Turning towards the sea and approach over the port into RWY24R at BCN.
