The UK car industry is warning that the Government’s ZEV Mandate could put British manufacturing, jobs and investment at risk unless urgent changes are made.

The UK’s automotive industry has issued one of its strongest warnings yet. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) is calling on the Government to urgently revise the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Mandate, arguing that current electric vehicle sales targets are running ahead of real consumer demand.
In this video I explain exactly what the ZEV Mandate is, how it works, why manufacturers say they’ve already spent more than £12 billion discounting electric cars, and why they believe the current policy could threaten investment, factories and around 188,000 UK manufacturing jobs.
