So in this video, I’m testing the Midea PortaSplit — a portable split air conditioner designed to give you proper cooling without the huge hot exhaust hose hanging out of the window like your house is on life support.

Unlike a traditional portable air conditioner, the Midea PortaSplit uses two connected units: the indoor cooling unit stays in the room, while the outdoor condenser sits outside. That means the heat is dealt with outside where it belongs, while the room unit focuses on cooling, dehumidifying, ventilating, and even heating.
In this real-world review, I test the Midea PortaSplit during a proper UK heatwave, using it in an actual bedroom rather than a perfect showroom. I look at how quickly it cools the room, how quiet it is overnight, what the app control is like, how useful the split design really is, and whether it makes sense for British homes, renters, older houses, awkward windows, balconies, bedrooms, and anyone who is fed up with normal portable AC units.
