The preferences of the next generation of collectors often gravitate towards modern and contemporary works of art. Traditional collecting categories, including Old Masters, decorative arts, and antiques face the crucial question of how to appeal to this burgeoning group of collectors.
This session, which draws on the panelists’ specialist backgrounds—collecting, galleries, auction houses—looks at the challenges and opportunities in cultivating and appealing to collectors across the generational gap. The conversation explores how to talk to them in their own language and in the context of their current collection while illuminating the enduring allure of so-called “traditional” collecting categories.
