Breathing Underwater is a song I wrote years ago during a period when love, loss, and survival were all happening at once — quietly, internally, and without resolution. It came from a place of sitting inside emotional heat instead of running from it, of choosing stillness even when everything felt like it was burning or sinking.

The song began as a raw demo: vocals recorded over an online instrumental and released on YouTube as a moment captured in time. I didn’t revisit it for years, but it never really left me. When I returned to it recently, I knew it needed to be rebuilt — not reimagined, but finished.

This version of Breathing Underwater features a newly created original instrumental made in Suno, allowing the music to finally carry the weight and atmosphere the lyrics always held. I expanded the song into a visual narrative, developing the concept with ChatGPT and shaping the imagery through Artlist, letting water become both threat and sanctuary — a symbol of emotional pressure, surrender, and adaptation.

The song explores what happens when rescue doesn’t come, when love can’t save you, and when you stop expecting anyone else to throw the rope. It’s about discovering whether there is still life inside you — even when you let yourself sink.

The track was edited and arranged using Sonar 7 and Sony Vegas, then mastered through BandLab. Breathing Underwater is a full-circle piece for me — a song carried forward from an earlier chapter and finally allowed to become whole.
