Breath of the Wild Is Basically a Zelda 1 Remake…
with @Age_of_Retro we break down how BOTW is heavily inspired by the original Legend of Zelda on the NES — from its open-ended design to the focus on exploration, discovery, and letting players figure things out on their own.
And what’s even more interesting is that Nintendo actually built a 2D prototype in the style of the original Zelda while developing Breath of the Wild. That prototype helped shape many of the core ideas that made it into the final game.
So while Breath of the Wild feels modern, it’s really just reimagining what Zelda was always meant to be.
