I did not plan on making this video.

I printed a multi-color bumblebee on the Snapmaker U1 to show off BIQU’s new PLA GO and Aura Silk colors. Then I wanted to test-fit those same spools on the AMS for my Bambu A1, so I picked another small multi-color print.

That is when I finally stopped and looked at the purge waste.

This is not about the Bambu controversy lighting up the internet right now. This is about something much simpler and harder to ignore:

How much plastic are we throwing away just to print in color?

For this print:

Snapmaker U1:
Model: 13.64g
Total Used: 20.70g
Total Waste: 7.04g

Bambu A1 + AMS:
Model: 12.73g
Total Used: 65.67g
Total Waste: 52.85g

Same type of print. Very different result.

The Bambu A1 with AMS is convenient, but that convenience comes with a real cost: wasted material, wasted money, and a pile of plastic poop that is hard to unsee once you actually weigh it.

So yeah… I think I’m breaking up with Bambu.

This video is not a full printer review. It is a real-world waste comparison from one small multi-color print, using actual weighed parts, purge blocks, and purge waste.

More material testing, filament reviews, and printer comparisons are coming.
