Saint Albans, West Virginia - A dog named Luca is at the center of a disturbing animal cruelty allegation after his owner, Miranda Allums, shared a Facebook video that appears to show a nighttime incident outside a home. We’re told the video allegedly shows Luca being attacked, and the claim now is that felony charges are coming.
This reportedly happened at around 10 pm CST tonight, Wednesday, May 20th, 2026. Luca's mom tells me that the neighbor's dog, she says, reportedly came over "fighting Luca" and then they jumped the fence and "that's when the neighbors started beating and stabbing my dog."
When asked about calling the Sheriff, Allums told me that yes, that she called and they are reportedly coming out for felony charges with a warrant. Allums went on to tell me she is just waiting for them to show up.
In the meantime, most importantly, she tells me Luca is in pain, he's not himself, he needs care at the emergency vet. She's going to take him (waiting to get word where.). She also said she's waiting on someone to see if they can help her with emergency vet costs. But as of right now, she says she needs financial help to care for Luca. She's asking the local community for any info for resources to help her pay the vet bill.

The publicly visible video is about two minutes long and appears to be security-camera style footage from a residential driveway area. The visible transcript includes people yelling about getting a dog and keeping a dog inside, but the full context still needs to be handled carefully because any criminal case has to play out through investigators, prosecutors, and the court system.
Allums also told me 3-year-old Luca showed up as a stray about 7 months ago and he's been with them ever since. To add insult to injury in this situation, his old owner "beat him" she told me. Now she says, "you can tell he's so loved."
I do have the names of the individuals at this time but waiting on an update about charges and execution of the arrest warrants.
Most importantly, if you can, please reach out to Allums. See if you can help her find any resources.
After that, we'll get to the criminal stuff.
