Pierce County, Washington - The dog most likely survived by eating cookies, an investigator said when Pierce County Sheriff's Office and animal control responded to a call from a landlord that tenants took off and abandoned a dog and reptiles in the house.
Thankfully, they found the dog alive (likely thanks to those cookies...) while several reptiles had died, some mummified. The surviving dog is now safe at The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County.
The "owner" has 14 days to claim him, but with animal cruelty charges heading to the prosecutor, that’s unlikely. The dog is now on track for a new, better chapter. Check in within 14 days with Tacoma Humane if you're interested in giving a REAL FOREVER HOME.
At this point, investigators have NOT released names. Stay tuned!
