Hello and welcome to Old Ways Gardening and Prepping.🍀 Would like to welcome you each outside with me down at the garden on this beautiful evening. So happy to finally be able to get started on planting the garden.
Love to work the soil and watch as slowly a garden comes to fruition. This year I am expanding the garden so will be working from the right all the way to the left. Wasn't able to do everything that I wanted to do in the garden last year but this is the year for a huge garden. This is going to take a while but if I keep at it then it will happen. So far there will be at least 8 more rows added to the garden.
In this video the first glorious row is going to be pole green beans. Do so love growing fresh green beans they just taste so much better. Of course my garden is going to be organic and that makes a huge difference flavor and quality wise. Also planning on saving as many seeds as possible to bless the OWLS Family with. Below will go in to some details about these two heirloom beans.
Rattlesnake pole beans need 6-8 hours of good sunlight to grow well. Plant Rattlesnake pole beans in the spring after all danger of frost has passed. Direct sow seeds 1 to 2 inches deep and 3 inches apart at the base of a sturdy trellis or pole, as vines can reach up to 10 feet long.
Louisiana purple pod beans need 6-8 hours of good sunlight to grow well. They are vigorous heirloom snap beans that produce sweet, stringless purple pods. To grow them successfully, erect a sturdy 6- to 8-foot trellis before planting. Direct sow seeds 1 inch deep and 4–6 inches apart once your soil temperature reaches 60°F.
