This video talks about the differences between soldering and brazing on old vintage kerosene stoves. A BIG point of confusion is people who continue to talk about “silver solder” instead of silver brazing. The misused term “silver solder” can refer to silver brazing rod/wire, or, to silver bearing plumbers solder. Completely different things that has resulted in many messed up stove tanks or stove burners when the improper materials were used because of this confusing terminology.

Brazing materials - I am endorsing the Harris products. But, I'm not getting paid to do so. Use these brazing items together with clean metal and an attentive and careful approach, and success is pretty much guaranteed.

I use a Bernz-O-Matic TS4000 on a 1 LB propane bottle and a TS8000 torch connected to a 5 foot hose (from Coleman) and which connects to a 20# propane tank. Both torches have piezo trigger starts.
