Brazil cotton production is set to fall to 3.83 million metric tons in 2027, a second straight annual decline even as growers expand planted area.

Raphael Bulascoschi, StoneX Brazil Market Intelligence Analyst, breaks down the firm's first estimates for the 2027 cotton crop and what El Nino means for yields.

A recovery in international cotton prices, tracked through the December 2027 ICE cotton contract, has made cotton more attractive against competing crops and lifted planted area. Even so, El Nino threatens yields across the Center-West cotton region, and Brazil cotton exports are projected to decline while the country stays the leading global supplier.
