Today’s visit to East Croydon took me to witness the very late-running Golden Arrow tour from Bristol Temple Meads to Canterbury, headed by West Country Pacific No. 34046 ‘Braunton’, which was substituting for BR Standard 8 No. 71000 ‘Duke of Gloucester’ which failed yesterday and couldn’t be repaired in time.

In all the tour ran about 30 minutes late, and is preceded by a Class 66 heading north with an aggregates train.
