Geneva’s old town is home to Galerie Schifferli, directed by Patrick Pouchot-Lermans. The gallery specializes in paintings and works on paper from the major artistic movements of the 20th century. In an intimate space, a selection of works by some of the best painters of the modern era is proposed, including the surrealist movement and works from the 1950s and 1960s. Two exhibitions per year are dedicated to Swiss artists. Hence the relationship with Christian Gonzenbach (*1975), whose 'Homo ab Ovo' is Schifferli's BRAFA in the Galleries 2021 highlight. Gonzenbach's vanitas invites to reflect on the transitory nature of human existence, while recalling the dawn of life, as it is delicately built up by fragments of an ostrich egg.
BRAFA in the Galleries (27 - 31 January 2021) is the newly created alternative to the BRAFA Art Fair at Tour & Taxis, Brussels, which has been postponed to January 2022. Our exhibitors will welcome you in their galleries, where they will present the objects and artworks selected for BRAFA 2021 in the best possible conditions. In total, 129 art dealers spread across 14 countries and 38 cities look forward to sharing their passion for the beautiful, the rare, the precious and the historical in a warm, friendly atmosphere, in line with the rules in place in their area.
