The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is the lead agency on oil spills and uses airplane flyovers to assess oil spill extent.
Latest estimate states as much as 95,000 barrels/day is gushing out. According to a news report today (on Democracy Now), it could be as much as 120 MILLION GALLONS that have polluted the Gulf of Mexico so far, with no end in sight.
