On Thursday, August 6, at approximately 8:20 p.m., deputies with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office were at an Exxon station in the 25800 block of Cypresswood Drive when a couple arrived seeking help for an unresponsive 2-year-old toddler.
Precinct 4 deputies immediately began life-saving measures until EMS arrived. The toddler was transported to a local hospital, where medical personnel discovered multiple life-threatening injuries. She was later airlifted to another hospital, underwent surgery, and remains in critical condition.
The toddler’s mother and her boyfriend directed investigators to a residence in the 3000 block of Rendezvous, where the toddler had reportedly become unresponsive. Detectives with the

Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) responded and continued the investigation.
The investigation determined the mother’s boyfriend, Gerardo Gonzalez (DOB: 4/9/1997), allegedly struck the toddler multiple times, causing her injuries. He has been charged with Injury to a Child – Serious Bodily Injury and booked into the Harris County Jail.
Our thoughts are with this young toddler as she continues to fight for her life. Cases involving children are among the most heartbreaking first responders encounter, and we remain committed to seeking justice on her behalf.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
