Wild find here. On one hand I don't need it and tbh would feel bad replacing my awesome Commodore 1702 but on the other hand this thing seems to be very low hour and is in better working condition. I'm honestly not sure if I'm going to end up keeping this or passing it on. I mean as much as I like it I don't really have the room for extra monitors (esp in the large box) to be lying around.

$Feiko 62MAS (why fake a Seiko?) I just picked up this fake (mod, homage, replica etc) Seiko 62MAS and I actually paid good money for this! Why? Well, for starters the vintage ones from the 1960s cost 4 thousand dollars on average these days! Thats for an old watch that will look like an old watch and cost more than this brand new watch just to service when the time comes. This may be a fake but its very well built with a domed sapphire crystal, lumed ceramic bezel, lumed date wheel, 200M WR and it even has a Seiko movement inside! All for a fraction of the cost of even the very worst condition originals. The Seiko 62MAS is a favorite amongst Seiko collectors as it was first released in 1965 and is considered to be Seikos first true dive watch. With the originals being so expensive now its actually common to mod new watches to look like the vintage ones. I like to think of this more as a homage than a fake. It would never fool any real collector looking to spend real money for a legit example. I bought this watch for $260 CAD ($187 USD) off a dude on Facebook marketplace who did the mod himself. This would have started out as a stock Seestern 62MAS clone, a good budget watch in its own right at $230 CAD. Then he would have replaced the Seestern dial with a Seiko branded one and... thats all there is to it! But keep in mind replacing the dial does require both special skills and tools (removing the stem, movement and hands) and Im happy to say the seller did a great job with this mod. It looks great, works great and the alignment of the hands and date change-over is all within OEM factory standards. I actually have a real Seiko 5 with hand alignment that isnt as good as this! Not to mention the bezel alignment is also very good. Something that many real Seikos have an issue with! Im also glad to see the color of the lume on the dial indices matches the lume on the hands and bezel. Im not sure if that was considered when choosing the dial or if its a happy accident but it seems like a perfect match to me. Im super pleased with this watch. I think it looks amazing and I love the retro mid-60s vibes. Some people might not like the fact its a fake but again, Im okay with it here in this case. IMHO this isnt the same thing as a fake Rolex for example. Its not trying as hard to pass off as something its not. Its not an exact replica and as far as I know, its not even a copy of something that Seiko currently sells anymore. IDK maybe Im naive here but to me it just doesnt seem the same as a fake Rolex thats trying to pass off as big money luxury. The average person who isnt a watch enthusiast wouldnt even know what this is. Yet people who dont know anything about watches know that a Rolex is very expensive and thats the biggest reason (the only reason for some) that people would want to wear a fake. Theyre trying to get attention. I dont think this is. But maybe Im wrong. What do you think?$
