The video game arrangement theme this time around was "cross-bosses," that is, classic exhilarating pieces of boss music arranged in the style of a different game! That's right, we're not finished: in an exceptionally rare event, the poll didn't just decide the winning arrangement, it decided the order in which all of the arrangements are published! I've completed all three of the boss music arrangements in their alternate styles, and this one rounds out the trio!
Perhaps the most unexpected pairing of the bunch, but the organ, choir, and rhythm of the Bowser's Castle theme from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! just happen to fit very easily into the style Jesper Kyd employed for the soundtrack to Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, a multiplayer cooperative first-person shooter set in the grimdark, war-torn, futuristic dystopia of Warhammer 40,000. Bowser's Castle happens to lend itself the best of any Mario Kart locale to the archaic-but-high-tech architecture of the world, so it was also quite straightforward to imagine the background in this thumbnail while arranging this piece. A much greater challenge, though, was designing Bowser himself, in the over-the-top, larger-than-life power armor reserved for the most ruthless, powerful elites in the Warhammer world!
Instruments used:
• Choir - Roland SoundCanvas
• Ambient drones - Sugar Bytes Aparillo
• Rhythmic synths - Sugar Bytes Aparillo
• Melodic synth - Logic Alchemy
• Bass synth - Logic Alchemy and ES2
• Electronic drums - Logic Drum Machine Designer
• Organ - Logic Church Organ
• Sidechain - Goodhertz Vulf Compressor
