I dont just do NES stuff ;) Though I still cant quite handle 4-op FM synthesis, so Genesis/Mega Drive stuff is off the table for now. Im fairly certain theres no real way to do this in FamiTracker, any fork (and Furnace doesnt even loop DPCM samples correctly lol) without retriggering the sample over and over (which sounds kinda ugly) or just putting all the pulse widths in one giant sample. And even if you did that, that would heavily limit your PWM speed possibilities, unless you use even more samples.
There very well could be a driver out there that can do this already, but regardless, I wrote my own program to play this sound. It truly doesnt do anything fancy except bump the sample address in one direction or the other after every NMI, and allow me to change the pitch of the sample by pressing UP or DOWN. There arent any non-game-viable tricks going on here, and the total sample usage is still only 408 bytes. :P
Speaking of changing the pitch, you also cant smoothly change the pitch of a sample in FamiTracker without retriggering it, which again sounds kinda ugly if youre doing it quickly (perhaps for the purpose of a wavetable kick). I wrote a different program before this one that I forgot to save to see if it worked at all, and sure enough, that worked too.
