Don't miss the GRAMMY-winning BEMF Chamber Opera Series and a gorgeous production of the first opera by a woman composer - Francesca Caccini's 1625 masterpiece, Alcina. At the center of a struggle between illusion and destiny, the sorceress Alcina stands in the way of the valiant Melissa and her quest to liberate the warrior Ruggiero to fulfill his heroic fate before Alcina transforms him into a plant to ornament her island. Coming to BEMF's 2023 Virtual Festival this September.

GRAMMY Award-winning Musical Directors Paul O'Dette and Stephen Stubbs and Stage Director Gilbert Blin lead this encore production–originally performed in 2018 in Boston and New York City when The Boston Globe praised the production as "spellbinding". They are joined by Concertmaster Robert Mealy, Choreographer Melinda Sullivan, Costume Designer Anna Watkins, and the all-star singers and instrumentalists of the BEMF Vocal & Chamber Ensembles.
