The Boss Katana is a great little amp. It has a great sound, some good effects, decent speaker, pretty easy to use.... but can you use it live. In this video, I show how I set up my Boss Katana 50 to be played live by using a footswitch. I ended up using a two button NUX footswitch rather than the Boss FS-6, but would work the same. I simply used a stereo Hosa cable to connect the two button pedal to the foot control jack in the back of the amp. Then, I was able to set up four different sounds that can easily be controlled and changed.
I am using this in a church worship music setting where four sounds will work ok. Also, with the Katana, we will use the phones / Rec Out straight into the front of house PA sound system. This is great because when using the Rec Out, the Boss Katana mutes the speaker.
I made this video because I figure there may be others wondering if the Boss Katan would be a good fit for live playing, especially in a church worship environment. I show how to save and change the patches too.
