In this video, presented collaboratively with Fondation Beyeler, Jakob Kudsk Steensen offers a glimpse into his new digital art installation, ‘Boreal Dreams,’ as well as behind-the-scenes insights into his practice.
Part of the group exhibiton ‘Northern Lights’ at Fondation Beyeler (January 26-May 25, 2025), ‘Boreal Dreams’ examines the impact of the climate crisis on the boreal ecosystem. Turning to gaming technology, Steensen built virtual worlds from ecological fields and through collaboration with sound artist Matt McCorkle, dream researcher Adam Haar and scientists at Northern Minnesota’s Marcell Experimental Forest, among others.
The installation in the park of the Fondation Beyeler is accompanied by an online experience, freely accessible at borealdreams.live.
