Eldertalk | Books & History in Old Town San Diego @Eldertalk | Uploaded October 2021 | Updated October 2024, 5 hours ago.
I'm happy to report I got to take a vacation. I'd never been to San Diego before. I got to spend a few hours walking around Old Town San Diego - a California State Historic Park - thanks to my cousin who offered to drive me there. I was grateful for the ride as I was not looking forward to driving around a city! I'd had enough of that in the 4 days it took me to drive from my home in far-northern California (in a forest) to the southernmost part of California where this family gathering took place. It was so nice to see the family members who were there.
Anyhow, Old Town San Diego is a bit on the commercial side. It is one of the few California State Parks that have multiple businesses occupying the buildings. It was fun to see the merchants, but my biggest interest there (outside of books and history of course) is the folk art. I am a habitual producer of folk art of questionable value (though I like it) . . . so I love to be in a folk art rich environment, and Old Town San Diego definitely is that.
