Summary: Aiden is an assassin for the king. His entire life is dedicated to killing. All he sees in himself is a horrible person who must remain loyal to the king. When the king gives Aiden the special assignment of protecting his daughter Sylvia, though, Aiden begins to see himself as more than a corrupt, numb assassin.
Positives
The book had plenty of action and romance. It went back and forth in a good balance of the two.
The message was clear and important. The story showed that no one is too deep in evil for God to save, love, or use for good. It showed that God can change us yet also showed that when we choose evil, we will have to live with the consequences.
The narration was amazing. Every voice sounded unique and fit each character perfectly. It was so fun to listen to.
I cared about the characters. They felt real and had relatable feelings and struggles.
Negatives
Quite a few details of the romance felt cliché. Especially in one section, the actions, events, and words were ones that occur frequently in movies and books.
One section of the story felt long and unnecessary. After an important event, the people celebrated, and Aiden viewed and then participated in the celebrations, and it took a lot of time with little effect on the story.
Overall: Great message and story!
