This is a tutorial video to teach some of you out there who play vocals in Rock Band and just can't figure out how to get all the percussion hits in Bodhisattva (or a number of other songs with odd/fast tap rhythms like Flathead).

Smokin is one of the hardest songs to score 100% on in Rock Band. Definitely in the top 5 most difficult songs in the game, due to all the crazy improvisation by Brad Delp.
Ive been chipping away at this song for months, slowly learning all the weird pitch jumps and warbles, and this video is actually my first ever FC of the song. This was even more difficult since I dont have anything near resembling Delps extreme tenor, so I had to transpose the whole song down 1 octave to even reach parts of it in falsetto.
Side note: The background venue - Empire State Garden - in this video has shown up randomly in a couple of my recent videos and I thought it was a perfect fit for this song, what with all the flames.

As is typical for my videos, the original vocal track by Lady GaGa and Colby ODonis (thanks Slayerfan7790!) is minimized so you can hear what Im singing.
Lady GaGas one of my guilty pleasures, but I hadnt actually played Just Dance on vocals until recently, whereby I almost failed my sightread because of the bridge (at 3:08) which made absolutely no sense whatsoever to me.
So... this video. After several days of picking away at the pitches in between all those overpowering harmonies, I figured out what most of them were supposed to be. Hopefully this helps some of you out there who were just as surprised as I was to see such a difficult vocal part in Lady GaGa song.
Other than the bridge, theres very very few places to breathe in this song; youre covering for two singers, and theyre both cheating by using multi-track vocals. So take nice deep breaths whenever you can.
Note that some of the just dance lyrics in the chorus are up 1 note. Ill try to annotate it so you can figure out what to watch for, but its another easy way to break combo on this song. And the male parts have absuuuurdly fast lyrics.
And hey, I can always use more practice with my falsetto (which I hate, but it wont get any better if I never use it...)")

Id never even heard this song until yesterday when I finally sat down and played through it for the first time. I got a lot of comments from people saying they were having trouble with it, and I can sort of see why since the chorus has huge octave jumps, but its really not as bad as all that, as youll see and hear for yourself.
This version of the song doesnt match the official music video, so Im guessing this is whats on the album, but the music video has pitched singing for many of the phrases that are charted as talkies, so I went back and memorized those parts and sang them that way because I sound horrible when I try (and fail) to scream. :) Plus its easier on my vocal cords.
As I mentioned above, the chorus seems to be the part that screws with everyone on this song (Breathe for me / Dont wake me from this slumber / Stay with me / Possession taking over), because of the pitch changes. Fortunately you can octave shift it and still make it sound OK - thats what Ive done here, so hopefully that helps some of you figure out how to FC this song.
Oh, and as I always try to do, Ive uncensored the missing F-bomb in this song.")

Good Riddance is an on-disc song for Green Day: Rock Band. All 47 songs in Green Day: Rock Band can be exported to Rock Band 2 for $10 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.
This video is a hybrid tutorial / comparison video.
Good Riddance is a simple and sweet song, and not terribly difficult on any instrument, especially vocals. Billie Joe Armstrong doesnt have the most impressive vocal range in the world, but it also makes songs very easy to sing for just about everyone.
The comparison part of the video is to show the differences between the vocal gameplay interfaces between Green Day: Rock Band and Rock Band 2. Note in particular the hard-to-spot progress meter in GDRB, and the different placement of the overdrive bars. What you cant see on this video (since Ive studio-magicked it away to synchronize the pitchline charts) is the slight difference in placement of the scoring line. Green Day: Rock Band places the scoring bar a bit further to the left on the screen than Rock Band 2 does. Lastly, notice that the exported version of the song slightly different placement for the phrase ending markers. It doesnt impact scoring, but its just... odd.")

More Than a Feeling is not a terribly difficult song to sing, though with as low as my voice is, I had to transpose the entire song down 1 octave to make it fit into my range. Getting that last phrase down in one breath was something of a challenge, too!
I did make an effort on this video to get all the percussion hits, since I think you might actually need them to gold star the song.

This is a textbook example of how to almost fail to get a perfect 100% in Rock Band on vocals. I am breaking every single rule here - Im not singing completely in-time, Im not matching pitch, Im deviating from the melody, and Im just doing the bare minimum to meet the scoring requirements in order to give myself the breathing room to add some emotion to this performance.
If any of you out there hum this song or sing it like a robot just to get 100%, I will personally reach through the screen and slap the stupid out of you until you learn better.")

As is customary with my videos, the original vocals by Alexi Laiho are muted so you can hear what Im singing (or in this case, attempting to growl).
So Ive been doing a lot of videos with talky parts since my return from hiatus, and while I still cant scream worth anything, I figure with such a low vocal range Id have a decent death metal growl.
Enter this video, which is my attempt at practicing my growling technique. I dont really like to do even this, since it still hurts my vocal cords a bit, but I think as long as I dont overdo, it should be OK.
Aside from that, this song is pretty easy pitch-wise. The chorus is slightly different each time, though not enough to matter for most people - you can basically sing it the same way every time and score them all because the differences are too small to make you lose combo. Oh, and the guitar in this song is totally epic.
So be honest and tell me what you think of my growling. Good, bad, or ugly?")
