The current 'bypass' construction at Blubberhouses, East side, is to get round the perennial landslip problem into the valley. 40 years ago, the West side, Kex Gill side, was improved and straightened out. Parts of the Old A59 were 'stranded', including an enigmatic looking white building that used to be the cafe at Kex Gill. Here it is.
